James Kyle Stone (Pete), 83 of Clintwood passed away Saturday June 14, 2008 at his home in Skeetrock.

 

Born in Dickenson County he was the son of the late Corbett and Fannie Stone.  He was last employed as a coal miner for Beth Elkhorn in Kentucky.  Pete was a member of UMWA for 66 years.  He was a Veteran of War World II having served in the U.S. Army.

 

Pete was a member of the Cumberland Church of the Brethern for 31 years where he served as a deacon and song leader.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Billy Kyle Stone.  Two sisters Christine Stone and Irene Rose.

 

Pete leaves behind his wife of 65 years Edith Faye Stone, a son Sammy Stone and Wife Retha, Daughter in-law Ellen Stone all of Clintwood. One grandson Jamie Stone of Clintwood.  Two granddaughters Stacie Childers and husband Mike of Grundy, Melanie Baker and husband Seth of Clintwood. 

 

Two Sisters Mildred Surratt, Mary Sue Mullins and husband Roy and one brother Doit Stone, all of Clintwood. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

 

Visitation at 6 p.m. on Monday June 16, 2008 at Mullins Funeral home, a song service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Harold Rose, Doug Stone and Lester Mullins officiating. With burial in the Stone Cemetery at Skeetrock. The UMWA and VFW 8979 DAV 235 American Legion 227 Virginia National Gurards Honor team will be conducting services at the Stone Family Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Jamie Stone, Seth Baker, Mike Childers, Doug Stone, Harvery Stone, Gary Joe Mullins, Freddie Surratt, Gary Surratt, Mike Watson, Robert Rose, Johnny Branham, Harry Dean Childress, Paul Payne, Daris Anerson, Ronnie Delaney, Buck Allen, David Combs, Bob Gates.

 

Honarary pallbearers will be Thurman Large, Sam Elliott, Albert Large, Giles Rasnick, Kyle Mullins, Jerry Artrip, Gary Artrip, David Ross Branham, Stevie Artrip and members of the Cumberland Church of the Brethern.

 

Mullins funeral home and staff are serving the Stone Family.
